Opera! LIVE! At the 1900 Theater!
The 1900 Theater is also known as the Auditorium. It’s also known as The Uptown Theater. It was once known as the Rialto Theater.
And, long ago, it was known as the Opera House.
Nobody knows when the last time opera was performed in the building. Nobody knows if opera was actually ever performed in the building.
But, this Saturday, April 13, at 5PM, there will be opera performed in the building!
Yes! Opera comes to the 1900 Theater!
The Strong City Preservation Alliance is pleased to present a benefit opera concert to help support the renovation of the 1900 Theater.
Martha Sharp, director of the International Opera Workshop, has engaged four young opera singers from the area to perform: Abigail Triemer and Jessica True from Emporia, and Chan Huo Park and Cole Bellamy from Wichita.
This singers will perform arias and duets from three operas composed by Donizetti, three by Mozart, and two by Puccini from the operas Gianni Schicchi and Turandot.
